Our Rates And How They Work

 

 

Design Services

Discount Signs’ design services includes basic computer based drawings or hand sketches for review purposes only. All preliminary drawings remain the property of Discount Signs until they are purchased. See Copyrights below.

A basic design is a clean, simple design for a typical owner-operated small business, where the design is used on the primary sign, one or two vehicles, and in limited print advertising. A complex design would be much more involved and consequently require much more time to design and more concept drawings produced.

Basic shop labor / Design service rate is $30 per hour, with a minimum of one (1) hour.


The following is intended as a guide to give you a typical cost for design services. This pricing is not intended to be a firm price since graphic arts services are based on an hourly rate.

*All design jobs must be brought up to date at the end of each month.

 


Sign Design Service:

Basic Design: Create layout and one alternative drawing - $90 - $150

Intermediate Design: More complex layout & multiple samples - $150 - $250

Complex Design: More than two drawings and meetings - $250 - $350

(One basic graphic/design is included with sign work. Design deposit will be deducted from total price of completed work.)

Logo Design:

Basic Design: Two versions, two meetings - $350 +/-

Complex Design: Two versions, two meetings - $675 +/-

A word about logos. Logos are the image of your business. Logos cost more to design because more time is spent on them considering many factors and the importance of them to your business. Additional time is spent with you to determine the "personality" of your business and the goal is for a logo design to reflect that personality. (As an example, due to the layering and color changes from the original file, the Discount Signs logo would be considered a complex design.)


Rates for Customer Provided Files (artwork):

Open a usable file and prep for sign use - $30

Convert file to a usable format and prep for sign use - $35

Scan and digitize an existing clean design -
$35


Create electronic version without clean art to start with - $175

The better prepared the file, the less preparation required at our end, resulting in savings for the customer. (Please ask about specific art requirements and preparations to keep your costs down.)

Copyrights:

All preliminary drawings and final designs are the property of Discount Signs until purchased by the customer. Purchase of a finished sign does NOT include the right to use a design elsewhere or have another sign shop or printer use the design in or on other products. The customer may purchase the design for unlimited use at any time with the price to be negotiated with Discount Signs.


Sign Installation:

On site sign installation is billed per hour/per installer at a rate of $85 plus materials. Installation time will include travel time to and from our location. Any installation job requiring specialized equipment such as lifts will be billed additional. These charges will be determined by an inspection of the site. If site inspection is needed before installation can be accomplished, a fee of $25 applies. (This fee increases to $50 for any inspection exceeding a height of 8’ ).
